Falken RT660 or Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

I'm at a crossroads between replacing my old Falken Azenis RT 615Ks with their new RT660 in the sizes I want of 255/40/18 front and their 295/40/18 rear OR running the Michelin 4S in 255/40/18 front and their slightly smaller 285/40/18 rear.

The RT660 is a 200TW and the 4S is 300TW.

The car is 99% street driven... sunny Friday (Firebird Friday) drives to work, local cruise-ins, Cars&Coffee etc. It might see an occasional autox event (Martin Sports Car Club) once or twice a year but not nearly as often as I initially thought I'd do with the car.

Both sets of tires are within $50 of each other out the door, but definitely not cheap... so I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts!

My driving has been 100% street driven. I’ve also made two trips from Las Vegas to Scottsdale and three from Las Vegas to the Huntington Beach, CA area. So no track time. I’m running the a pilot Sport 4S and I’m happy with them. They need a little heat in them to get really good grip, but it doesn’t take much driving for them to get there. I’d buy another set for the street/highway.

Can’t speak to the Falken tires as I’ve never run a set.

Good luck. :captain:

Not quite an apples to apples comparison. The 4S is a 300 treadware street tire, whereas the RT660 is a 200 treadware mixed use street/track tire.

On track, the RT660 would be orders of magnitude better than the 4S. On street, it would probably be hard to really tell the difference, but the 4S would likely last longer.

I run RT660 on my gen 5 Z/28 and find that they provide comparable grip to many r compound tires in the 100 treadware range that I've run, including R888R, PS Cup 2 (180 tw), NT01, and F13R.

I've run 4S on an M3 at the track once and found that they were extremely noisy at the limit and performance fell off dramatically as the tires warmed up.

If you're tracking the car, the RT660 all day. If you just want a nice performance street tire that will last long, then go with the 4S.

I've only had experience with the 4S but I absolutely love them on my 2018 Camaro 1LE. Quiet, hook great, and have confidence in the rain.

I run the Falkens on our endurance race car. They are great on the track, but we only get one day out of the fronts and two out of the rears.
