Shop Layout

1 Attachment(s)
It's been a whirlwind of a year! I sold my house, moved 3hrs, and bought some bare land.

I've been building my shop while my house has been going up... and I'm finally to the rough-electrical phase. This means I need to figure out my final layout so I get stuff where it needs to go!

The layout is attached... the smaller bay to the right is my RV storage area, and the square with a circle in it, is the air compressor. The area with the car is 35 x 30'

What do you think? Anything I should consider?

I sort of view the area to the left of the car as where I'll store things like the welder, sheetmetal brake, etc when I'm not using it.

I hope you give this a lot more thought. You need a lot more 110v outlets, like every 4'. I have two circuits for outlets, every other one is on one circuit and the rest are on another. How tall is your ceiling? If you ever get a hoist, where will you plug it in at? I suggest a separate circuit, installed in the ceiling, directly above where the lift motor will be. And then, will you use a garage door opener? I hope you don't use a ceiling mounted one.

Plus one on the outlets every four feet.

I have not given it much thought yet, which is why I'm here!

Garage door is jack-shaft type. I don't have plans for a lift, but I'll look at some popular ones and see if I feel comfortable placing an outlet at this point. Ceilings are 11'8".

I'll add more outlets, They're cheap and easy to put in when the walls are open.

I'd add extra 220 outlets for moving a welder around to different locations. I'd also add more outlets in the ceiling for things like air cleaners, ceiling fans, drop down reel cords, etc.

Way more air regulator outlets including outside the overhead doors and on the hoist post.
I added a single can light on a motion switch so I can go in the shop to get something without turning on the lights.
My truck was always parked in the garage so I used the motion light twice a day
