Is there any down side to painting an engine?
Anyone have pics of theirs painted in red?

If you're talking about painting an aluminum block the slight difference in heat retention from painting wouldn't be an issue at all, I've seen many LS aluminum blocks painted. I do like the top end painted like the pic below, with the intake and heads raw aluminum to contrast with the painted lid and valve covers.
