Hdy Clutch Master firewall bracket issues
68 Camaro. I received a bracket that sits flush against the firewall and not bent out like the McCloud bracket. However, It does not fit. I trimmed away some of the bracket and stopped before I went too far, still doesn't fit.
I made a template of my firewall and overlayed it on the bracket and you can see how much difference there is. I was told my 68 Camaro holes are not where they're supposed to be. How can that be? Do I not have a 68 Camaro firewall? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d697f72f_b.jpg20220122_135709 by F G, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...dd316646_b.jpg20220201_210812 by F G, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...31a8acd8_b.jpg20220201_210945 (1) by F G, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...421e8ffd_b.jpg20220201_211241 by F G, on Flickr |
Have you checked to see where the clutch rod will be going through the firewall? I had to trim the hole in the firewall on my Chevelle, switching to hydraulic clutch usually has the rod in a different spot than the factory clutch rod. It may be that the bracket is fine, the firewall needed to be trimmed.

Got it. Looks like it's TOO flat, needs to be bent more to clear the lower section of the firewall. Was this a universal bracket, specifically made for the first gen Camaro?

I broke out the grinder and made some modifications to the bracket set up.. here's where I ended up and what it took to get there.. It should work now.
