Hdy Clutch Master firewall bracket issues

68 Camaro. I received a bracket that sits flush against the firewall and not bent out like the McCloud bracket. However, It does not fit. I trimmed away some of the bracket and stopped before I went too far, still doesn't fit.
I made a template of my firewall and overlayed it on the bracket and you can see how much difference there is. I was told my 68 Camaro holes are not where they're supposed to be. How can that be? Do I not have a 68 Camaro firewall?

Have you checked to see where the clutch rod will be going through the firewall? I had to trim the hole in the firewall on my Chevelle, switching to hydraulic clutch usually has the rod in a different spot than the factory clutch rod. It may be that the bracket is fine, the firewall needed to be trimmed.

I can't get the bracket to even mount to the firewall because of the location of the wire harness hole where it goes through the firewall. I may have to move the harness hole.

Got it. Looks like it's TOO flat, needs to be bent more to clear the lower section of the firewall. Was this a universal bracket, specifically made for the first gen Camaro?

Yes, It's made by Red Roberts as part of his Hyd Conversion kit. I also bought a DSE bracket which is the bent away from the firewall design to see if it was any better and it's just as bad. I'm at a complete loss here.

I broke out the grinder and made some modifications to the bracket set up.. here's where I ended up and what it took to get there.. It should work now.

Jody, wait...you mean to tell me all of the manufacturers have been lying to us all of these years when they have been saying, "direct bolt on and no modifications needed."

 Nowadays it's becoming rare when something fits as described. I'm used to having to "hotrod" most parts.
