LT4, C6 suspension 69 Camaro.

I’ve been building this car for about 10 years.

I have had a few in the past, been modifying suspension and engines since I was young. I remember when the Tuckers were building their first project and Mark was building the Mule.

This project has gone through quite a few changes along the way.
My current configuration is a Z06 dry sump LT4, C6 Z06 torque tube, TR6070 transmission and a c6 Z06 differential.
I struggled with the combination of components to get the wheelbase right for the Camaro since it’s about 3” longer than the C6, CamaroAJ helped me out. He’s building a very similar project with slightly different components.

I’m using a C6 suspension kit from Gordie Rutkowski at Nite Restorations.
It’s a great kit that makes this swap manageable as long as you have basic fabrication skills.
I am going to widen the fenders for the C6 suspension, the rear isn’t too difficult but I’m struggling with the front. The need to allow the tires to clear while turning is proving difficult.
I’ve been posting videos on YouTube for about a year, they’re low quality, not edited. Mostly just for me to keep track of what has been done.
The car is going to be mainly street driven but I do want to do 4 or 5 track days a year.

Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas or suggestions for me.

Cool project!

I had go built custom cradles to tuck the tires on my C5 suspension swap into my Nova, but flares and fender mods work alot better on Camaros.

I've been working on mine for about 10 years myself... crazy how the time flys and life happens on these projects!

What all comes in the kit from Nite? I can't find a link that shows what it is...

How do I find you videos?

Keith, saw your channel on YouTube for the car. I would like to do something like this on a vintage era truck. Can’t wait to see the progress!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

Thanks for posting the link Jody, I don't know how to get that link myself.

The kit from Gordie consists of the brackets that bolt to each side of the aluminum cradle. The brackets than give you the correct location for the upper control arms to keep the geometry correct.
The bracket has a pocket in it that takes a 2" x 4" rectangular tube that you build the frame out of.

If you look back through my videos you will see the brackets bolted in place without any modification.

I'm working on the roll bar this week, I hope to get that completed so I can put the car over on its side to finish weld the sheet metal underneath and get some epoxy primer and seam sealer on it.

I would have liked to leave the body stock, unfortunately with this kit if you narrow the subframe its very difficult to fit the engine between the rails.

I remember those days - I put a C5/C6 front suspension and 2010 Camaro SS rear suspension under my 76 Corvette.... fun stuff I love that the cradle unbolts
