LS 376/480 exhaust drone in second gen
 

I am ready to address the dreaded second gen f-body drone issue. It drives me nuts and makes what should he a pleasant driving experience annoying as heck

Any suggestions. I’m considering the borla crate exhaust system.

Any insight is appreciated.

I’ve got Borla ProXS mufflers, 3” exhaust with X pipe all the way out the back on my 68 Camaro and I’ve been very pleased with them. They have a great tone, are pretty mild overall but just like any exhaust, depending on the speed and gear selection (6 speed) you can get get some drone going on but a 2-300 rpm change in either direction cures it. I plan on using these mufflers on my 67 Nova project as well. Here’s a YouTube video of my Camaro for a sound sample if it helps…

I absolutely hate drone! On one of my cars I switched the mufflers 4x and finally ended up with zero drone with a turbo type muffler.

Most guys don’t want to switch to a turbo style muffler for fear of HP Loss, I’ll gladly loose 10hp for no drone.
