325/30-19 on the front of a 2nd gen fbody?
Was thinking of doing this. I have a stock subframe and speedtech's street fighter kit. The 3-pc wheels were 19x9.5 wheels with 6" backspacing. I had them widened to 19x11, but I can have them changed back (just more money!!). The wide front is for looks only. I love the look of it.
I am ready to cut and flare the front fenders to make em fit. I'm wondering if I'm going to have issue with the car wandering or other issues caused by large scrub radius and other bad front end geometry. Front wheels are 345s on 12" wheels. The fronta are 19x11 with -7.5" backspace. If I have them reassembled as originally ordered they're 19x9.5 with 6" backspace. This is a street car 99.99% of the time but I absolutely want to track it when my kids get a little older. With that said I'm not focused on making everything 100% optimal for handling. It is a pro-touring car though, so of course handling was a bit consideration when selecting parts. Pics are just for reference. Any help on what I should check or verify to objectively determine if this will work would be appreciated. I understand scrub radius but have no idea how that scan actually be measured with basic tools. What about wheel travel, Ackerman, etc? What should I go over? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3f4afe305d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f1bf282b33.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bce97987fd.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...75d640e86f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cddddcf957.jpg Sent from my unknown using Tapatalk |
Does anyone have any input? I'd love to tear into this over the longer easter weekend, or get the wheels worked on and sent back to just made to be 9.5" wide wheels again. I'm leaning towards the second just to save on the custom metal work and running into unforeseen problems that I will be locked into after modifying fenders.

The biggest deal with the stock subframe would be the lack of turning radius. You'll have to limit the steering so you'll be doing a lot of 3+ point turns just to get in a parking space. If you can live with that then the fender mods will likely be required as well. It will look cool, no doubt.

Campbell restoration is again selling flairs
for 2nd gen camaros... He said some guys are installing them with double stick tape They fit pretty nice and not crazy wide They are in Campbell, California I think he said $1,000 for a set. Bob |
My two cents, run narrower tires to save from having to make all the changes necessary to stuff a wider tire under the front on a car that's not going to see a track any time soon or often. Yeah, wide is amazing looking. It take a lot to make it fit. It's not worth the effort at this point. 9.5" wide tires will look great if you set them flush with the outside of the car or close to it. Good luck with it!
