67 mustang front end?
 
a friend of mine has a 67 mustang shelby. he wants to update the suspention with a more modern feel and tighter steering. anyone provide links to help me out or ideas as to what to do? thanks in advance.

do you have any personal experence with any of those? i want something that gives me a good ride, great handling, and great steering. im kinda leaning twords the RRS stuff becouse it seems simple and a real nice kit and i don't have to cut to much on the car.

You shouldn't have to cut much if anything with any of the options listed.

I am not familiar with Ron Morris.

I am going with the TCP stuff on my project.

I think the RRS stuff is a strut setup similar to the stuff used on the fox bodies.

Have the Total Control (now Alston) in my Shelby-amazing difference. Car is now safe and tight. I used my stock pump b/c of supercharger but they say it would be better with their Nascar style pump-no doubt but my pump fit without modifying the supercharger brackets.

PM if you have any questions and if he goes Total Control with PS I can give hima killer deal on teh pump I did not use as it was about 700.00 from them.

My current car ('67 coupe) and combo has the Ron Morris front. I upped for DA coilovers and 450# springs. His kit calls for lengthening/shortenning the LCA for camber adjustments. I opted to keep the arms the same length, and made eccentric eliminators offset to dial in camber. Also I did not drop the upper arm as far as called for, as this gets into too high of a Front Roll Center (for my liking) ... 1.25" is enough for me.

I am using the TCP power rack, and KRC power steering pump. I like this of all of the rack kits out there ... although it is definitely the priciest.

I have used Global West in stuff in the past ... and liked it.

I have used Mustangs Plus Grab-a-Track stuff in the back of my car with good results.

My front 1.25" hollow sta-bar came from cobra automotive.

I prefer the three coil over kits to the strut conversion kits (RRS and Fatman's), as in my mind a double a-arm set up is a step up in performance vs struts. However, for a driver, and where price is a concern the strut setups are a great way to go.

I have a Total Control Products [TCP] power rack on my 69 Mustang. It leaped out of the box, installed itself, and functions perfectly. Really :) .
Actually, I had to put about 400 miles on the unit to work out a slightly sticky feeling on center, but after that...butter! It's pricey[about 2k] but it does work perfectly. :thumbsup:
I have a couple of other cars that I have installed "other" rack systems on...the only word I could use is "dangerous". I wish TCP made rack systems for early Novas and Camaros.

all of the above links, including global west are excelent choices, most mustang specific shops have handling packaged, ive only ever dealt with www.mustangsplus.com and can only recomend them... but the first, cheapest and best fix is still the shelby upper arm relocation... on a 67/68 you redrill the mounting holes for the UCL one inch down and reinstall, and with the priec of four holed the car will feel radically different... specs (and templates) can be found on the web
