Awesome. However, those wheels and tires look like the expensive sort. They'll eat up 1/3 of your budget. I would go a different route with the wheels and tires.

Those are Budnik Laterals. I sort of hesitated to put them in because I'm not sure of the pricing. We could always go with 17" Coys I suppose.

Ben...Intro Wheels has a line they call the Endless Series which are very affordable. You could do the 5 star wheel in an 18" and have the spokes painted charcoal for almost the same look. In the other thread, Scott mentioned $2000 for wheels and tires. I got news....if they end up with a set of Budnik Laterals and tires for $2000...then I want that deal too. :D

I will say that I think this is a great idea. But to avoid the bickering that is already starting to surface they can absolutely under no circumstances accept any donations from members, volunteering of ones service such as paint and body work (unless they're just lending a hand) or discounts from vendors who are looking to get exposure for their parts. The parts can't cost a penny less then what the general public can expect to pay. And they've got to figure in taxes and shipping too. Sorry...but if you want this to be realistic, those costs have to be factored in or the whole project is bogus.

My take on the build....

- Mild rebuild on 350 Olds with some home porting on heads and a camshaft, intake, carb.

- Current transmission rebuilt at local shop with mild performance enhancements to tighten it up a bit.

- Keep the frame on and sand blast it. POR-15, Poly bushings, drop spindles, sway bar, cut springs, better shocks, rebuild steering box and have effort and ratio increased (I had this done to mine for about $135). Don't know what to suggest for rear suspension because I don't know much about the coil spring cars or what's available for them.

- Matt's Brakes

- Intro "Endless Series" wheels

- Paint and Body done by the cars owner.

- Interior...nothing major other than swapping out bench (if it has one) for buckets, clean up interior by reconditioning as many parts as you can. Add tach, water, oil, volts gauges, floor shifter.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. As mentioned in related threads....."we don't want this to end up like Monster Garage with $50K in freebies, that aren't available to the average guy off the street." I mean, it's not that we don't appreciate the support of all the great vendors and sponsors of the site, we just want the build realistic.

I have other variations of that rendering with intro wheels and bonspeed wheels (through www.newstalgiawheel.com) that are less expensive.

Kind of why I volunteered to paint, I'm not a professional painter. I don't work for a body shop. It would be one of those "buddy lending a hand" kind of deals.

This is just a fire up, With respect to other doing art work on the car as well there are cutlass loads of renderings and the actual renderings, will be voted on, So please keep in mind that this is just a spark there are quite a few people working on this as far as art and web, and we cannot forget about them and give them our thanks as well :thumbsup:

I wish you were in Michigan....I would definitely come by to lend a hand. :(
