New Project Solstice

I've built a new car, a 2006 Solstice. I have prepaired it for road racing in the SCCA SSB class. I purchased this car as a total with 4100 miles on it. Updated all the chassis to the ZOK specs and added a roll cage.

Should be fun.

Do you know what races you'll be doing, Mark?

Very cool. So is it completly done or is there more things to do(like wheels and tire or body parts)?

Ssb

SSB (Show Room Stock B) rules are very tight. You need to run stock everything except:
Tires
Safety Equipment
Cat back exhaust
Brake Pads

The cars aren't that fast, but are a lot of fun and easy on parts. I have a ton of laps in these cars and use them for driver training. If any one want to build one GM have a new book that outlines how to build one. I'll try to find a link.

Still working on a race schedule.

That's very cool Mark. I need a ride.............. :unibrow: I'd think this is a perfect series for you, as it's "relatively" easy on the pocketbook and lets a good driver shine.

My friend and I spent 3 hours (They were very patient! ) chatting up the Soltice Z0K designers from GM Racing this past Saturday at PRI. It was an awesome time, and they were great to humor us! Those cars may not be "fast" but they sure are capable. They are killing the racing field, and GM's support of the racing community is unparalleled at this point. They are awesome to work with.

Which is why it always kills me when someone starts talking about racing in this class and all they can think about is a Miata. Gimmie a fuggin' break already. The Solstice is a hydroframed warrior that is 10 times the car that the Miata is. I've driven both cars and to me the Miata feels like a go-cart made out of sheet metal and PVC pipe compared to the Solstice.

I like Miata's, but I also like Solsticeses. There are places for them all, but Mazda ain't gonna roll a support truck and techs up to a SCCA event, for sure.

If you ever need anything solstice related, give my buddy a call. He's getting heavy into the Solstice aftermarket field. I know you're going stock class, but you might have a question or two. Dave, over at www.ddmworks.com 864-907-6004. Tell him Daddy Rocket sent you. :unibrow:

I am thinking he won't need any help, considering who signs his paycheck. ;)

Mark, you and I talked about getting into road racing at Stenod's prior to Power Tour. Glad to see you got something going. Solstice is probably a better fit than what we were talking about.

There are a couple of reasons for that. The Miata has been around since 1990 which makes it a lot cheaper to get into racing than almost anything out there. You spend 2 to 3k for a donor car vs. teens to $20+. Puts a lot more guys in the game, and the competition is good. Doesn't make the Miata a bad car to race, just another option.

I would feel to guilty to go out rubbing fenders in something that new and more expensive. At least in my current economic situation.
