Hello everyone, I’m Taylor. Found this wealth of knowledge doing some searching on 3 link rear suspensions. I’m a firefighter/paramedic for a living, been doing it for almost 14 years at this point. A lot of things I’ve been considering for my build are what I’m familiar with from my days of building dirt modifieds in the SW Missouri area. Are they ideal, probably not. I like thinking outside of the box with things and finding solutions using components and parts from other cars and designed for other forms of racing.

Now for the project car:

I have a 1970 Ford Torino GT. Bought it as a college graduation present to myself from a guy in Burlington KS. Originally, I was going to build a street/strip car out of it, but since Bandimere has closed its doors and no new track is around yet, a more fun street car is the goal. Is it the ideal car for a great handling car? No. I got it because it was unique. The drivetrain will remain much of the same as I originally planned (466” BBF, with some goodies from Jon Kaase) and it’ll be drinking e85. Planning on either a TKX or a Magnum behind it. 9” is already built, Mark Williams 31 spline axles, strange center section w/ Detroit locker. 4.11 gears but those will probably be changed out to 3.70’s. I’ll be using the AJE strict conversion up front, 04’ cobra brakes, hydroboost, and the R&P steering.

I’ll do my best to stay in my lane, ask well thought out questions, and post progress pictures as I can. Likely be slow going as my girlfriend is 8 weeks along with our first kiddo.

Welcome Taylor. That's a GREAT project, the Torinos are very cool cars, and somewhat unique.

Congrats on the new one on the way. Will change your life for the good.

Thanks! Hopefully it’s half as cool when it’s done as I’m picturing in my head.

It does seem to be quiet but the vast amount of info in here is a huge help. I’ve already changed my mind on front suspension stuff. Looking to adapt an SLA type suspension in lieu of the fox body strut style. The crown Vic style suspension is attractive with the amount of readily available parts for them.
