Tell GMP how to build the next Streetfighter!

GMP and Lateral-g.net Team Up!

GMP Diecast and Lateral-g.net have come together to offer the opportunity for the core Pro-Touring purists to have input on the next 1:18 scale GMP Street Fighter. This new Street Fighter Camaro will be based off of the 1968 version and although there will be no new tooling involved, there’s a plethora of custom and Trans Am parts to choose from. GMP will be working closely with the Lateral-g.net members in developing the new diecast g-machine from exterior paint schemes to engine options and more.

1968 CAMARO STREET FIGHTER OPTIONS

Exterior Paint Scheme - The new paint scheme will be a challenge since GMP has already produced quite a few 1:18 scale Camaros based of the existing tooling from Trans Am racers to Drag Camaros and Street Fighters. Shown on the right column are some of the colors GMP has produced already. The new paint scheme should be as different and unique as possible. Either stock stripes or something more of a radical departure from stock would be preferable.

Wheel Options – There are three 18” wheel options to choose from:

Billet Specialties (wheel “A”) is offered in polished billet aluminum. The spoke finishes can be satin black or a powder coated satin dark gray finish.
Kinesis Motorsport K18 (wheel “B”) is offered in any finish
Kinesis Motorsport K58 (wheel “C”) is offered in any finish

Hood Options – There are three hood options to choose from:

Stock Flat Hood (Hood “A”)
Stock 1.5” Cowl Hood (Hood “B”)
Stock 4” Cowl Hood (Hood “C”)

Engine Options – There are 2 engine options to choose from:

302 c.i.d. Cross Ram Chevrolet V8
572 c.i.d. Big Block Chevrolet V8
6-speed transmission will be standard with either engine option.

Exhaust System Options – There are two exhaust options to choose from:

Trans Am style – Side Exit Exhaust (styled tips or no tips) (Exhaust “A”)
Full Rear Exit Exhaust (Exhaust “B”)

Interior Options – There are two different style interiors to choose from:

Competition – This is the same as the “no-frills” Trans Am Camaro interior with a single racing driver’s seat, full cage, no console, and competition shifter.

Street Fighter – This is similar to the competition interior except that it comes with articulated bucket seats, 5 point harness belts, and custom styled center console. The console can be deleted if optioned so.

Miscellaneous Options – These are exterior parts that can be left on for detail or be deleted from the model to give a smoother appearance.

Wiper blades
Side view mirrors

________

Please post how you would build it including paint scheme. For me, it would have the 302 Crossram with full exhaust, 1.5" cowl, competition interior, and Kinesis K58 wheels with black centers. The color is tough. Maybe yellow with black Z stripes or dark green with white hockey stripes.

Lets hear what you guys think would be cool. How would you build it?

it's all about the details....

First GMP would like to thank Scott for his help on this project. Second, we at GMP thought it'd be cool to develop a Street Fighter program with you the G-Machine enthusiasts. We want to hear what YOU might do and possibly incorporate your ideas into the next 1:18 scale GMP Street Fighter. We chose the Camaro mostly due to the large assortment of optional custom parts already available to be tooled for that GMP diecast model. We also know that the 1st generation Camaro dominates the Pro-Touring scene and we'd get a large response.

I'm already seeing some good feedback and look forward to seeing more. One thing I might suggest is really think about the details. We can be creative with color breaks and paint finishes. Think about finishes for wheels that could range from polished aluminum to satin finished spokes. Under the hood, there's tons of things to think about - how about a polished carburetor? How about carbon fiber air cleaner lids? How about custom photoetch emblems? We can really play with the deco and do some trick graphics.

I should probably mention this first but maybe your idea starts out as a "story" - have a theme. A story sells just about anything and it can also help the theme of your design which will help to keep "the look" of your design consistent.
For example, maybe you do a Trans Am tribute car. Overall theme is based off of an existing T/A Camaro or it could just have a really cool competion look that is modern but pays tribute to the road course warriors of the 60's and early 70's. It could even have racing numbers on it? Just an idea.

We'd like to set the cut-off date for Tuesday October 3rd for all input on this project. Scott and I will talk about your suggestions on Wednesday October 4th and then I will present them to "the gang" here at GMP.

Thanks,
from GMP

I'd have to say black with all exterior options, 1.5" cowl hood, flat black bumble bee stripe, Kenesis K18's with brushed centers, 302 cross ram, full exhaust, street fighter interior w/ console in a dark grey color.

Hooligan 09-27-2006 05:17 AM

Paint: Silver with black racing stripes

Wheels: Kinesis K18 blackened

Engine: 302 crossram, Lsx would be even better

Transmission: 6 speed

Exhaust: Trans-am style

Hood: stock unless it wouldn't fit

Interior: Streetfighter w/ console black

Door handles: Yes, but taken off a newer late model car and painted body color

Wiper Blades: Yes

Side view mirrors: yes, painted body color

Front chin spoiler: Yes

Rear duck tail spoiler: Yes

Another suggestion is maybe we might want to mix it up a bit on the colors. We'd like to try and do a color we haven't done before on our Camaros or atleast something maybe different than the red, orange, and black we have already produced. You can also post as many ideas as you want, there's no limit to how many versions you would like to post. :D

Does any of these factory colors from 1968 model year catch anyone's attention?

Ok..

It should be prowler Orange
LS2 - naturally aspirated
Forgeline wheels with a dark center
Door handles
No wipers
no front bumper
rear bumper
standard cowl hood
copitition interior (black)
rear spoiler
front spoiler

I even have a story about this chick.. she carries a penny and goes after bad guys in the dark of night.. she drives a..

Oh wait.. that's my car

Actually I need that '67 so I can combine the parts with my '68 and have a car pretty close to mine ;)

As for THIS car.. I would do the cross ram 302 and build the car as a street version of a Trans Am car. I would think silver would be nice (you have done black, red and orange). leave most of the exterior chrome but add some three piece competition wheels.

How about an SS hood?

JamesJ 09-27-2006 09:49 AM
