My Fairlane 500 was just delivered!
:woot:
I have had it 2.5 hours.. lol Ok.. the review. It's as nice as it looked on ebay.. there is absolutly ZERO orange peel in the paint. It certainly is not a el cheapo paint job, not a show car job but certainly nice. All the body panels are straight and so far zero signs of rust. The paint is definetly a two stage deal and it's a pearl. The grill is in PERFECT shape, not even a crack. I was told by some Torino guys that it's worth around $1200 since it's the one used in cobra jet Torinos and it's not reproduced :D The vinyl top is in top shape and no sign of any rust. The glass has a few scratches but then again it's a 36 year old car. Tires are brand new, wheels are pretty nice. The interior is immaculant with perfect seats, new carpet, good headliner and nearly perfect door panels. Some wear on the kick panels and the dash could use a paint job (rubbing off, gives it character). Radio works but display is busted. Headrests loose in seat, must be an intermal problem but who cares. Temp guage inop but speedo and gas guage works. Needs weather striping bad, the stuff in there is hard and cracked. Looks like the guy tuned it up before shipping since he sent along the old plugs in a bag. Car runs great and starts easy. Some smoke on start up, must have semi-tired rings. Then again it doesn't have to last all that long. The four wheel disc brakes work, with effort.. lol.. steering is 1970s sloppy and the very nice wood GRANT wheel is on crooked. The car is LONG.. almost 17 feet. I didn't have a lot of extra space in my garage length-wise. Overall it's MUCH nicer than I expected. Sure some little things need attention, for $8000 I think I got a good deal. I will post some more pics tomorrow.. Oh, and when it came off the truck I drove it straight to the John Force cruise night :) BTW, a big  to Intercity lines. They couldn't have been any more professional or friendly. They called me often and the car was covered and wrapped up just like it was a 500,000 Ferrari. Introducing project Fastlane 500  http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/transp2.jpg |

Slick car!
I was looking forward to following a '66 or '67 Fairlane build, but turns out that '70 Fairlane has REALLY grown on me. |
Put around 50 miles on her today.. definetly need suspension work, but not bad. Even stopped by a local car cruise in the neighborhood. People seemed to dig the car. Can't wait to baseline test the car.. lol
Here's some pics as promised.. http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/fast1.jpg http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/fast2.jpg http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/fast3.jpg http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/fast4.jpg http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/fast5.jpg |
