I'm sure that The General will figure out another way to kill us. Gosh I am hung on GM but it seems like General Motors is like your first girlfriend, you remember how lovely she was, go 10 to 12 years without seeing her and when you do, its when she's buying triple wide double stuffed(maybe with wings and/or landing gear)Tampons at WalMart, two hundred pounds overweight with her double wide husband and double wide kids.

The new Mustang is gonna take over the world. It wouldn't surprise me if GM reconsidered their plans after seeing it.

Faced with fight or flight, GM is running as fast as it can.

My understanding is GM had revenue projections of 2 billion but in reality ended up paying Fiat 2 billion to get out of the purchase of Fiat and also had 2 billion in losses. That is 6 billion from where they thought they were gonna be. They are cutting back everywhere. The new Mustang had nothing to do with it. Hopefully they will rethink some of the quick cost cutting decisions they just made.

I did see where GM was projecting Losses in the area of 80% higher than previously projected.

Clill, at 6 billion in losses, maybe GM should buy Mustangs and have them rebadged as Chevelles, I'm sure they'd get a discount at 6 Bill. The Fiat purchase was a bad decision from the get-go.

An old guy told me that FIAT stands for "Fix It Again Tony". That should have been somewhat of a sign.

GM's biggest problem seems to be having customers who want to buy cars that GM don't have.

And now over here they have started to sell Daewoo under the Chevy badge, who can they fool with that?

And the SAAB factory here in Sweden will produce a converted SAAB that will have a Cadillac badge, again who will be fooled by that?

I dont think either that we can associate it with the mustange vs. Camaro thing.
GM came out with 80% earnings loss, and last week stock was down 23% I believe. Merrill Lynch was coming out and telling its investors to sell GM becuase it was heading down. I have some shares of GM and at this point just going to hold out for the long term.

Companies like GM never really hit bottom, its like a business cycle within the company, it will come out of this eventually, just might be longer than most of us impatient people want to wait.

Just the consequences of shot earnings and sale drops...At least they arent like UAW who wouldnt let pro-bush and marines park in their lots to go train on weekends!

The Camaro is still alive, in my opinion. It won't be on the Zeta platform which was bigger (wheelbase-wise) than Kappa on which the Solstice is built, but smaller than Sigma, on which the CTS and others are built. Maybe they decided to build the Camaro on a modified existing platform (a stretched Kappa or a reduced Sigma) in order to get it to market quicker?
