detroit tru trac install questions
I just bought a MOSER 12 bolt rear with a detroit trutrac differential.
3:73 ratio and Im kinda confused as to how to install the rest of the rear parts? No C clip axles just some T bolts and a couple of seals. axles have the bearings pressed on and the instructions to complete the assembly dont have anything on dealing with the axle retainers? heres a few pics. http://webpages.charter.net/harrycoo...%20(Small).JPG http://webpages.charter.net/harrycoo...%20(Small).JPG http://webpages.charter.net/harrycoo...%20(Small).JPG http://webpages.charter.net/harrycoo...%20(Small).JPG any help is greatly appreciated! |
You need to install the entire rear housing, then put your backing plates on, put T-bolts into holes in the housing ends. The T-bolts will hold your backing plates to the housing ends, and the brackets you received from Moser will sandwich the backing plates to the housing. So, the backing plates sit directly up against your housing ends, then you need to slide your axles into place, wrap the brackets around the axles and push the brackets onto the threads of the T-bolts coming out of the housing ends. Four bolts hold the housing ends, backing plates, brackets, and axles into place.

thks for the help
also I assume the seal is the first thing to go in the bore of the housing. and does the axle bearing require greasing? seeing that it is on the other side of the oil seal. |
I'd need a closer up pic of the exact bearings they put on your axles to tell whether they need greasing or not. Mine did not. I also didn't use the seal, I just used silicone.

bearings are sealed so no grease required.
but im using the drum rears and need to modify the backing plates . making the center holes bigger. Moser Tech support set me straight on the install so I think im ok now. |
