DSE T56 Crossmember

I have a silly question to ask. I have my TKO-600 but I want to use DSE's T56 Crossmember to add strength to the car. Crossmember
What do you guys think? I was debating a cage but the guys at CARR think that I should go without one and use this to help beef up the chassis a bit. I agree that I don't really want a cage as the interior is really first rate and I don't want to disturb that, but Ill be running over 600hp and want to stiffen things up as I will be running the car hard at times. What do you guys think?
I'm going to ask this in the camaro forum as well as it's pretty camaro specific.

No one has a clue? How long should it take to put one of these in? Anyone?

I think Pascual put one in Jonny's car, so you might want to talk to him. I think this plus the DSE weld through floor SFC's do quite a bit to add stiffness.

Yeah I have one. With that ,SFC's and a cage the car is very solid. It is expensive but it is great for those cars.

That piece is NICE.. I would have love to run it on my car, but I didn't know it existed until I was past that point.

How many hours to fab in?

mazspeed 11-27-2006 06:00 PM

Yeah it's $725 for a fabed up piece of metal :wow:
I'm thinking of going with it since we are putting more power to the car, and after driving it 500 miles I figured I wanted a bit more strength. I'm not sure on the fab time, but I would love to do it myself if CARR let me :unibrow:
I would only think a few hours tops to put in the brace but I don't know. Jonny, do you know how long it took Pascual to do it?

I would not be surprised if it was a 5+ hour job, cut out the metal and then weld both sides in car and both sides under the car!

I can't remember where I saw the install (maybe DSE's site?), but it seemed somewhat involved to tie it all in to the floor, rockers, etc.

Imagine the DSE piece and SFCs along with the Lateral D. rear piece for their 3-link. Talk about a stiffie.

mazspeed 11-27-2006 11:01 PM

Wow 5 hours? I must be thinking it's quicker then I thought. I'm sure it must be more involved then what I was thinking. Id still like to see if others have put it in and the time it took and if it was worth it to do it.

All I can say is welding sheet metal takes time!! Oh and yeah that's a nice piece!!
