Project Panther Update (68 Camaro)

It's been a while but some progress is being made. Project Panther originally slated for a black paint job might be going back to the factory Rallye Green (any opinions welcome) but for now, in the spirit of the original name for the car known today as the Camaro, Project Panther is being built to accelerate and handle with front/rear weight ratios and light weight components in mind. While the car is far from done, a few of the highlights are a 535HP (dynoed) LS1 backed by a paddle shifted six speed (from the 07 Vette) to a Speedway 9" rear end with a strange nodular carrier putting the ponies to the ground. The car has a Wayne Due subframe with C5 suspension pieces. Out back, a Hot Rods To Hell Truckarm Suspension with the DSE minitubs have been installed to allow for more tire underneath the factory quarter panels (no flares on this one). Early measurments indicate a 12 -13 inch wide wheel with 335 or 345s (final measurements will be shared here for those thinking about venturing down this road). Tying things together, is a six point roll cage with possibly a tie in through the firewall to the subframe for increased chassis stiffness (still on the fence on this one). So far so good....

It takes major bucks to get a black paint job to look good. Ask me how I know? Lot's of Camaro's, not alot of them green. That would make it stick out in a crowd. Picking the correct green is the hard part....

That GTO is beautiful and the time and effort to do it in black really paid off. I've owned my Camaro since highschool (a little over 25 years now) and it was Rallye Green with the white hockey stripe. I was seriously leaning to going back to the Rallye Green but am still on the fence about the color of the hockey stripe. I was thinking about going with an Argent Silver stripe and match it to the wheel centers (see picture). Comments and or suggestions from you "been there done that" crowd would really be appreciated.

I think that would look awesome. The green is a good looking color too.

I like the idea of the stripe matching the wheels. What color is the inside going to be? What type of interior? Stock, pro-touring style?, This will also play a part in what color green you go with. I myself experimented with multiple shades of color for my stipe and hood colors. We used an old hood from a junker and laid down the colors on top of a base black. We went through a few shades before we found our match. My red on my scoops is in the same family as my interior. A little paint chip is multiplied ten thousand times once it's on the car.

Plus there is so many new rich green colors that are now available. The green will need to flow with the silver that you pick for the stripe.
