How do I Determine a 9"
Ok Heres the deal I dont know the first thing when it comes to a Ford 9", i just know that everyone says they are better so i went looking for one. It is possible I have one in a old truck sitting out back. My question is how do i tell it between a smaller ford rear end ? can you tell just by looking at it?
Anyway if someone could fill me in i would appreciate it, thank you. |

Good luck buddy I wish you the best in your search. I am going to do my homework on both the 12 bolt and and 9 inch I found, then decide which will be better for my application. let me know if you find one. Thanks again! |
12 bolt all day long!!
Please visit www.rhodescustomauto.com and look at the two camaros on the home page, 1 red, the other blue. Both of those cars have 12 bolts under them. Then go to finished cars and look at the red 68 owned by my friend Ron. You will notice he has a 12 bolt under it and that same 12 bolt has been under that car for years. Notice the low 1.3 60' times with the wheels in the air. 12 bolts can take what you dish out. You may recognize that car from Hot Rod mag. and the power tour from years back. He has since been using it the fastest street compatitions and it doesn't see any street use anymore. Nothing looks better under a camaro than a 12 bolt. Dave

I say 9"

9" can be built really strong but it takes more power to move them,So if your not going to put really sticky tires on and instantly putting alot off power to it a built 12 bolt would work great and not take as much power.

I wondered why my little Brother lusted after the old 9" that was under my '64 Ford Fairlane S/W and I much later found out that it was a big wheel bearing jobber..............
Somebody musta R&R'd it b/c when I had to re-wheel bearing her after packing a BIG load a 1/2" drywall home, the parts guys stock bearings didn't fit so he continued on and got me what I needed!! I miss that old $300 POS car to this day!!!! pdq67 |
