hi guys
i dropped in a borrowed lsx motor and 4l60e today..whoooo hooooo BUT DOH!!!! with the motor @ 4 DEGRESS AND centered in the frame i have one problem. my steering knuckle is right where the oilpan bolts to the motor..F@CK i had to drop the vette oil pan off to get the motor in because the wings on the pan hit the mounts that come off of the crossmember when trying to put the motor in.....F@##n car building sucks sometimes.... MY crossmember and steering was all based around a lt1-4l60e.....and i just had to be a MEMBER OF THE NEW SCHOOL WITH AN LS1..IM NOT STUPID AND THIS LOOKS LIKE A REAL PROBLEM THAT MAY FORCE ME BACKWARDS ...NOW IM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO!!!!! DAMN THIS IS FRUSTRATING ANYBODY? PICS ATTACHED RADRAMBLER |
Im Ok Now
WELL
looks like ill notch the oilpan and may have to move the rack a fraction left of center.... i was a lil fired up earlier.... i talked with a friend who has alot of car building knowledge and this is what im gonna have to do to make it work... anyway ill make it work radrambler |

yeah!!!!!!!
i didnt have to take my car to the fab shop .mild to wild fabrication. i went over and helped him with some other customers stuff and i got my mounts built ...after much measuring and measuring and oh yeah more measuring... i made templates and figured it out...got the peices cut and welded up and BAM !!! IT BOLTS IN I ALSO RAISED THE TRANSMISION IN THE TUNNEL 1 1/2 INCHES .the original eng- trans set way low.... too low... by raising it and then building the mount plates..i just have to get the camaro pan notched for my steering knuckle@ the rack.....sometimes you just have to measure and look and measure and look......cant give up though....anyhow i threw in and older start of build pic look at the difference of when i started with the lt1 in the stock front end and the ride height difference...damn ,big difference radrambler |
Lookin' good Brother! Lookin' good!
