Fuel pump for 600hp?
What pump would be appropriate for an in-tank set-up for a 600hp LS7.
Would a pump rated at 255lph work? Thanks |
More info if you need it, it will be a NA engine. Most likely with 42# injectors.

42 sounds on the small side, you will have to run higher fuelpressure to fuel 600 horses with 42 lbs injectors, that or dangerously long duty cycle, also if its high impedance injectors your you will limit your dutycycle at high revs as the minimum injector turn on time is unchanged,
but a 255 lbs pump should just cut it... personally it run two and turn the other on at wot over a set rpm.. but do the injector math for what ever injector you buy, they are all different |
thanks, I'll check into the injectors more thoroughly. As far as the pump question, I'm trying to keep it simple and reliable, so wouldn't an Aeromotive A1000 or similar work better for an in-tank application?

i have seen an A1000 mounted in tank.. so it is possible.. i just think its a little noisy, and it will heat the fuel more than a smaller pump, it draws somthing like 30 amps, all of which turns into heat in your fuel eventually.. you could contact kinsler and have a chat with them about your pump and injector needs.. but an A1000 will certainly deliver enough fuel

Thanks Deuce, I did have an external Holley for the 383 so I know noise, but with Flowmaster 50s it didn't last long. But your advice is appreciated-thanks.
I don't know about Copenhagen but Kansas just had a nice little 8" snow dump. Looks so Alpine! |
60lbs motrons and magna-fuel pump which is quite and will not burn out on the street like Aeromotive stuff does.

I just ordered my tank from Ricks and Hector, or should I say I, went back and fourth and which pump set up to go with. I'm running a mild EFI Big Block that is just at the 600 HP mark. The A1000 is to much for me (although with a controller would work fine) then I went back and fourth on the Walboro's or he suggested the Aeromotive 11106 inside the tank. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku I figured this would work just fine for what I'm doing - not to mention keep it as $$ reasonable as possible. It's not together as of yet, but this setup should work fine...I hope!!

I have a Walbro in tank pump and a Bosch 044 external pump that comes on as needed. The bosch is triggered by MAP and TPS to come on to help the Walbro. The 044 Bosch was too big to fit into the tank, so it ended up behind the tank with it's feed through the bottom of the tank. The bosch is a 300 lph pump that together with the 255 Walbro is more than enough to handle the 700 plus crank HP.
I plan to take the boost up this summer, for the strip only. This is a daily driver, so the Walbro takes care of those non racing duties. Here is one place that handels the Bosch. http://www.boschfuelpumps.com/ I used a heavy stainless steel shield to protect the bottom feed on the fuel tank. The Bosch pump is behind the tank. System works well. :) |
