Introducing Lisa's Project EmptyNest

Well, Lisa was going to do a 69 Camaro convertible we have until we found this 69 Firebird convertible. Lisa has always been a fan of Trans Ams and Firebirds. We have had a lot of them over the years, but never a early ragtop. Lisa thinks the 69 T/A is one of the best looking muscle cars ever built. And I tend to agree. And Lisa being a Florida girl, she has to have a convertible.

As I said, we found the Firebird a couple weeks ago causing a eleventh hour change of plans for this years SEMA car. We contacted Carter Hickman and asked if he could produce a 80% complete rendering before the Hot Rods & Restoration show next week. Carter Hickman accepted the challenge and is doing a bang up job on the renderings. He has done a amazing amount of work in a short time period. We have some details to work out, but this thing is looking so awesome I had to post what we have.

A few of drivetrain and suspension details are up in the air, but should be worked out at the HR&R Show. A few things are certain including a All Aluminum injected poncho mountain motor. Transmission is still open for discussion, she likes to shift, but with the power were putting in it I would like her to keep both hands on the wheel! We will run a solid Moser axle but have not committed to suspension system yet. Same for the front clip, were looking at options right now. Brakes will be Wilwood 14" with blue calipers, that is a no brainer. The wheels will be a one off set of 3 piece 19 X 13 and 19 X 11 with 355 / 30 / 19 rears and 295 / 30 / 19 fronts. The blue carbon fiber is a custom weave we are having done. I saw something similar on a bike recently, fricken fantastic! Pint will be House of Kolors Pearl white with the natural exposed Carbon fiber for the stripes.

We are making the molds for the deck lid, hard boot, hood, wing, and Lisa is going to be making her own parts! She is going to be pretty involved and dirty working with Michael. Basically, Michael and I got to do one, now it's Lisa's turn to build a car with her son.

Your either going to love it or hate it. It is Prodigy style for sure, and most either love or hate that! I think this does a good job of following in Project Prodigy's tracks.

We were starting on it when we landed this Firebird. A couple bottles of wine, ideas started flying............................... Well, you understand how things change.

There were 30 something 69 Camaros and 3 Firebirds at SEMA. I still have 2 69 Camaros and will probably do something real hardcore for myself after I recover from this one. But right now, I think this is more unique, and really good looking theme. Charlie will have to buy it to put beside his real one.

You sure that was ideas that started flying around?

Rendering looks good. I can't wait to see how the blue carbon fiber comes out.
