did anyone ever get burnt out on college?
 

Was college ever too much at certain times for you guys?

Right now I am taking 13 hours of upper level classes and have 3 labs out of 8 classes and it has been the most overwhelming semester I have ever had. I don't understand college at times? I sometimes feel as though they push so much material at us that we are missing the whole point of what we are truly learning. I enjoy school, but why in the heck is it the way it is?!?

I work full-time and go to school full-time at the age of 22 so I guess I am not your normal college kid. Those people that said college was the best times of their lives are wrong!! No time and no money-thats not fun!!
I just had to take a break from my studying and hear some personal thoughts on school.

i didnt work during university, but i fixed wrecked cars.I didnt get burned out because i was a slacker in school before, but the last year took me 2 extra years because i slacked off, just keep in it because one of the biggest regrets you will make is to quit school, just think that when your done, your done and the work you did is in the past and you have one of the few things in life that cannot be taken from you, your education.i didnt go out and party and whatever so i didnt enjoy that aspect until i left school

I never finished school, and I wished I have, I probabally could be making more money, more money means more toys, bigger house with a shop or say another Hot Rod to place next to the one your working on, say a vacation in Hawaii, or a week skiing at a ski in/out in Vail village, stuff like that, Keep looking foward,

When team "MoM and DaD" are paying your bills, how can college not be the best time of your life! For the kids who are majoring in beer drinking 151 and Sleeplogy 210, I do NOT understand why they would even try to go to school...I knew some big time slackers in college

Yep, 2.5 years at the college of Architecture at OU a dozen years ago. They were going through dean changes and got tired of doing real drafting one semester and absract the next. Never went back.

the biggest thing that kills me is when i think, if i went past the bachelors into something else i would have already had my credentials in whatever i wanted and been where i wanted.thats a thought you never want to have, think about that when school gets rough

I feel you!! I dont work "full time" but I work about 30 hrs a week and its an hour commute, so basically full time. This year is the biggest course load (junior year) and trying to get setup for an internship this summer pretty much ruined my last month.

I flew back and forth to NYC 5 or 6 times, had to reschedule tests for topics I had already missed. This month I am trying to get back to Par but it is just a pain.


You cannot blame the kids who's parents are paying, I wish mine were! They don't really understand my situation, but who wouldn't want a free ride! Or less debt! I honestly don't know anyone else here who is paying for themselves like me (I am sure there are kids out there), but when you are burdened with the debt, working, and school...it can get to you really fast! I totally understand man!


Although I look toward the future. I got some great offers for the summer and I am going to work for Goldman Sachs this summer. So while it sucks now, I hope it pays off, and pays the debt later on!

Hang in there! It's all worth it after it's over. I went to school full time and worked, on average, 30-35 hours per week while pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. I thought about quitting just about everyday between my junior and senior years, but I kept pushing myself just enough to get by. I had established a good enough GPA my first two years, that I was able to kind of kick back my last two years. What degree are you pursuing?

Sports Turf Management. Sounds easy I know... but I would go back to my old finance classes anyday!! (no offense Tim-BC69, I imagine you have a tough schedule of classes) It is just the amount of material that is given that makes school difficult, not soo much the actual work.

On a good note: Spring break is almost here! I am heading home to work on the cars and get my mustang ready for paint. A long week of wet-sanding and prep for the paint booth! I love these old cars, I just wish school was as much fun!

I know what you mean, im only in my sophomore year of engineering. Since i was 15 if i wasnt in school i was working. I am actually planning to transfer school next semested b/c of my job so i might take a semester off and will probably enlisting national guard while i am at it. I just need a break from the usual. Seems like everybody else has more time to have fun while im working.
