10 bolt with c clip eliminators and LS1s
has anyone here used a 1st gen 10 bolt with a C clip eliminator kit and stock rear LS1 brake set up and park brake assembly??
|
C-clip eliminators are dangerous period... and not really meant for street use.
Can it be done ?? Yes. Has it been done ?? Yes. Have I done such a build ?? Yes. Would I recommend it ?? No. |
c-clip
Done with out c-clip eliminators. Chicane, what would you suggest to use in it's place? Going to a 12 bolt and rebuilding with c-clip eliminators. I thought they were safer than losing your rear end.....

As far as c-clip eliminators are concerned, there are those compaines that make a quality kit and those that do not. Ill tell you this, most of them are in the "not" catagory. For a race car, yeah... maybe, but not a street chassis. The two best kits out there are from Mark Williams and SummersBrothers.
There are a few companies that make weld on housing ends that utilize a press-on type wheel bearing. Mark Williams and Tom's Differential make excellent conversion kits for a press on type axle bearing. Toms Differential offerings or Mark Williams bolt on bearing adapter or weld on ends. |
Press-on bearings w/ weld on ends are the only way to go. The last time I used eliminators, they leaked and the bearing pulled out with the axle...c-clips would have been safer!
Really, weld-ons aren't that much more money. |
Thanks for th info....
