Trans am racing challenger
 

Does anyone know what kinda of suspension set up the challenger had in the trans am races? pictures or a link that might give me information on it? thanks

Snowskater6996. . .you're in luck. . .here's a link to the Historic TransAm Race series that is still running the cars the way they were set-up back in '67-72 (just upgraded safety equipment that's all). . .I go and watch the race here in San Diego every October. . .the cars are awesome, the people are friendly, and you get to go right up to where the cars are being worked on/prepped for the races!!!

There is a very nice green Challenger (#77) that runs in the series. . .it used to be raced by Sam Posey and now driven by Ken Epsman. . .the Challenger is extremely fast !!! You can see it on the opening page of the above link and there are several other pictures of it on the website as well. . .here is a link to it on the webpage.

These people are very friendly in my experience and are more than willing to share information about their vehicles if you ask. . .I wouldn't be surprised if you emailed the Historic Trans Am Racing series that they would be able/willing to provide you with contact information for Ken Epsman

I have a lot of pictures of the vintage TransAm cars from the last two years, but I don't have any of the suspension set-ups under the cars:( Sorry about that!

I'm sorry I don't have any specific information about the racing suspension set-up of the cars, but if you check the schedule on the Historic Trans Am site and any of the races are going to be nearby you should go and see the race. . .then you can see the cars for yourself up close and personal, take pictures to your hearts content, and also talk to the owners, drivers, builders, etc. . .if you don't have any races that are going to be near you and you still need pic's and info by this October shoot me an email or a PM and I will be happy to try and get some pic's of the undercarriage of the #77 car and see what info I can get about it.

you can still build suspension almost exactly like what they used. dodge didnt do anything crazy with the suspension on those cars... if you want e-mail me at [email protected]. I have lots of info which was sent to me by good friend Steve Vukovich, whose black aar styled cuda was one of the First pro-touring mopars featured. I think guys like him and Stephen Durr really helped push the mopar pro-touring craze and steve has sent me a ton of info about what they used.

Ken also owns the Sunoco 69 Z Trans Am car, a Penske Javlin, a Dekon Monza amongst others... he is a car freak like all of us. He is a good guy too. I can email him and ask for the info or better yet just call Scott Rubin at McGee Motorsport Group at Sears Point/Infineon on Arnold drive... Scott takes care of Ken's cars and is also one of the drivers so he can tell you what you want to know.
