A part that SOMEBODY needs to make...
1 Attachment(s)
I was driving my Camaro, shortly before it was sent back to the bodyshop, and noticed a glaring area where it needed improvement.
The cowl hood. 90% of us don't run the factory cowl vents on the hood since we aren't running the cowl-induction air cleaner. This means we are stuck with an undinished area of the hood that we have to stare at when driving down the road. Somebody needs to make a part to close off this area, some sort of wire mesh with a frame that will bolt to the factory locations. It would really do a lot to clean up this area and give a finished look. Thoughts? A laser cut piece of stainless? A more elaborate solution? Who will solve this common first gen problem. I know I would buy one :) |
A buddy of mine fabricated his own mesh screen on his 'glass 2x4 hood and it looks great...gives it that '60's "competition" look.
I still run the factory cowl flapper so mine's intact...but I do know what you mean. That is the first thing you see as soon as you're behind the wheel. |
Check out the hood going on the "red witch"...:D

Still, somebody needs to make/sell this part. I would imagine many guys with regular cowl hoods would spring for them You shipping my hood next week??? :unibrow: |

Heh, get in line, Buddy. :D |
Hey Steve, that's on our list with my buddy to do. He is doing a water jet ti item for this that will be plated. I don't know what color yet, but he has a pattern already picked out. I will not have it before Pleasanton though.

Have a picture? Seem redundant for everyone to design thier own. Someone need to curn out a hundred or so, mark them up a notch, and sell them. |

On Dad's '68, we cut out a sheet of aluminum to close off the cowl hood. Without it sealed, the hot under-hood air comes out there and goes right into the cowl vents and into the interior when the blower fan is on... really sucks if you don't have A/C.
