My Project I named Riptide
Hello Lateral-g.net,
I have been looking through this forum for several years now and have gotten great information and ideas. I would like to introduce myself and tell a little about my projects. I have always loved muscle cars. I grew up working with my father in his body shop. He and my brother still run a body shop. I went away from the business, but have always had hobby cars and motorcycles and friends cars to work on. Well I love my time with my projects. I have completed a 1980 Camaro Berlinetta last year and I'll post pics shortly. I started this project December 2005. It is a 1967 Camaro. I have decided to go pro-touring / g-machine with this car so I have searched through many forums for ideas. I will be installing Wayne Due front and rear C4 suspension. It will be modernized with 99 Camaro interior (dash, center console and steering column). I have e-mailed some of you in the past and you have all been great help and give great advice. I will be doing most of the work myself and my goal was to have a finished product like Mr. Rupp’s ZO69, I'll be installing an LS2 pretty much stock with headers. The car has been completely taken apart I found rust and decided to have it media blasted (Paint stripper was a mess). I found a place (no kidding) around the corner from my house (less than a mile) that does walnut shell blasting and they did a great job. I will be installing DSE mini tubs and reworking a WD IRS kit so that I can bolt it in. The best part of this whole project is my 11 year old son and I have been doing this together and he has just asked if we can build him a car when he is ready to drive. Sorry for the lengthy intro. I plan to post more in the future and seek the wonderful advice of the Lateral-g.net members. Thanks, Here are a few pics. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1038/...72ffc494_b.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1160/...b9107fdb_b.jpg From the rear http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1009/...104d5f97_b.jpg Side on And a couple of renderings from Kris Horton http://farm1.static.flickr.com/190/5...19a9d9f9_o.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/243/5...fb614704_o.jpg Kris does fantastic work, Thanks Kris....... |
It looks really cool. I kinda dig the sidepipes, but I like the retro a little.

I originally was going to exit the exhaust out the side in front of the rear tires, but I was bouncing through the PT forum and found a few shots of Ron Racers Camaro with side pipes and I was sold.
Thanks for the kind words, |
You are doing it the right way with a rendering!

Thank you. I thought it was a cool way to get it going. Started off as just a repaint and possibility of suspension up grades and it gained momentum and the rest is history. Now is the hard part making it look like the rendering.
Thanks again, |
Very nice brotha... VERY nice..

Good luck with the project. I like the side pipes idea too. I know someone else in this thread mentioned it.   |
Thanks for the complements. I really like the side pipes. My dad had a 38 Chevy coupe with side pipes and I thought it was to coolist car around.
Here is a few shots of my 1980 Camaro Newly installed locking hood pins. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1296/...4307ccb874.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1268/...82e60b91fa.jpg Shot of the 67 with the C4 installed http://farm1.static.flickr.com/201/5...1ac59bd888.jpg Shot of the brackets http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1182/...834abc7b6e.jpg Another one of the renderings http://farm1.static.flickr.com/230/5...176713cc_o.jpg Thats all for now.... Thanks again for the complements. |
I'm a little curious. What does the 2''x2'' square tubing with the bolt in it, that is installed in the original front spring mount, do exactly?
