need help with 68 camaro front clip.

I am not sure I understand. Is this a Camaro subframe under the 41 Ford body?
The problem you have stems back to with a worn part (tierod, drag link, pitman arm, ball joint, or wheel bearings), assuming the aligment is correct. If there is not enough CASTER the car will wonder all over the road including incorrect toe in, etc. First go back to the basics and make sure there are no worn parts. Second, it needs to be set up and measured on an aligment rack, or right at home using strings, straight plates, and a level. |
sorry about my confusing post, but yes you are right on the button, there is a 68 camaro subframe under a 41 ford body.

Add more caster, ie tilt the spindle backwards. That will help. How did they set it up? To a 41 truck, 68 Camaro? How much rake to the truck? Any play in the steering system? I know my camaro and my late model truck both wandered around before I rebuilt everything.

thanks for the help musclerodz, the car is a 1941 ford buss. coup with a 68 camaro front clip and 12 bolt rear end. the chassis has been cross braced and welded up like a son of a gun. there is a little play in the steering system, we just installed a new colum a couple of months ago. before we put the new tires and wheels on there was alot of rake in it but i think that was to do with the large rears and small skinnies that used to be in the front. with the 18's it sits better, could that be the part of the problem, to much rake?

With alot of body rake, it could be causing the spindle to sit more vertical than it should, thus loosing its desire to want to center itself. Add loose steering, and it could be a hand full. Adding more caster to compensate will help the problem but may not fix it.
