			I had to install a small lead cell batery with a diode, right next to the box on an electromotive installation.. when the engine and batery was cold the voltage dropped below minimum voltage while cranking so it never fired... the batery supplied 12volts to the fmu while cranking, and it got recharged when the engine ran... 
 id chect the viltage while cranking to prevent you have a simmillar problem, it isnt uncommon for the main voltage to drop to 9-10 volts while cranking with a high output starter and a trunk mounted battery... and at 9 volts your f.a.s.t. is as dead as a doorpost.
