Some new people in the company.
I am happy to announce that the brothers are back together again! A few weeks ago my brother Dave joined the team at Prodigy Customs to help Michael run the shop, and to work on special projects. It’s been almost 20 years since I trained little brother auto body repair. He is one of the most accomplished fabricators and body men I have ever known. David spent the last 20 years working for the top shops in town doing bodywork and running shops while running his own custom fabrication shop on the side. He has great people skills, a all around nice guy, and is a welcome addition to our team. It’s kind of nice for us all to be together again, mom sure likes coming by for lunch and seeing both her boys at once, LOL! For those wondering, I still very much make the day to day designing and decisions for the Prodigy Customs shop, and are very active in all aspects of the builds. David will just see my wishes through allowing me to focus more time on tech with store and shop customers, procuring new products, and doing more install tech features, etc. Look for more awesome new products and kits Dave will lead development on, and if you see him around the shows, be sure to say hey.
Team Prodigy Kicks Ass at The Year One Experience
Team Prodigy took 4 cars to the Year One Experience in Braselton, Ga.. The 4 cars included the perennial favorite, Billy’s Goat 1965 GTO which debuted at SEMA 2005 belonging to Bill Howell of Pigeon Forge, Kevin Newcomer’s of Miami 1969 Firebird “Eternity” which debuted at SEMA 2006, Our newly finished Prodigy Vette belonging to Rick Erickson of Jacksonville, and our own Michael’s driver, 1986 Monte Carlo SS. When the show was over we left with 3 first place trophy’s and one second place out of a 440 car field of killer cars. We also arranged 3 magazine features for 3 of the cars, one catalog cover for the Billy Goat (Year Ones GTO catalog cover car will be Billy’s Goat) and a TV interview and segment on the Prodigy Vette. I am so proud of my crew. They absolutely busted ass to get all the cars ready, and the effort really paid off. Besides the show, a few of the cars also made some hot laps around the Road Atlanta Road Coarse, and tore up the autocross. Winning trophy’s and racing all at the same time. Now that’s fun!
You can see some of the cars in the new Prodigy Customs projects section on the forum
Prodigy Customs sponsors the Chip Foose Progeri Charity Poker Tournament and car show, Michael gets a personal invite from Chip Foose for Overhaulin!
Oh wow what a weekend. Prodigy Customs was one of the sponsors for the Chip Foose / Year One Progeria Charity poker Tournament and car show. Chip had a 16 Y/O sister that died from Progeria (
http://www.progeriaresearch.org/) which is a devastating pre mature aging disease. Chip is very active in Progeria research and support and holds a invitational Texas hold um Charity Poker tournament and car show once a year, and it is really a big hit. Over $100K was raised for the charity, and after learning more about this disease, we will be getting a bit more involved. The poker tournament was held at Milt Robson’s gorgeous car barn which houses one of the most fantastic muscle car collections in the world. Milt s the nicest guy anyone could meet, and host this invitation only event. 72 people played a Texas Hold Um tourney on Friday night with the winner getting a crate engine, and second place (won by my good friend Tom) got a set of Foose wheels of his choice. There were so many industry giants there I cannot name them all, but at my first table I sat beside the owner of Metal Crafters, Metal Crafters build the Big 3 concept cars, John Forces funny car bodies, The Chip Foose coupes, to name a few and Mike was the nicest guy in the world, and we got a personal invite to tour the facility, I can not wait!), the owner of Dynamat and Eaton were a few other notables at the first table. I went out early, but that was fine it allowed me to have a few cocktails and mingle. It was awesome.
Saturday was the car show and 100 cars entered the Foose picks section, and another couple hundred joined the regular show. The foose picks is limited to 100 cars and is $100 per car. Each car / owner in the Foose picks area gets to meet Chip, pictures, and a few minutes to show Chip your car. As a sponsor we really were not eligible for awards, but we did do the Foose pick to further donate to the cause and we wanted Chip to meet Michael and see Project Prodigy. Anyone that knows anything about Prodigy Customs knows this is all about me and Michael building these cars. I / We have been rewarded of Michael’s accomplishments in many ways including magazine features on Michaels Prodigy, Features on the Prodigy Customs shop, awards and accolades from friends and industry big wigs. But nothing compares to Chip Foose personally asking Michael for his business card, and inviting Michael to Overhaulin. At the show on Saturday, After inspecting Michael’s car, Chip was dually impressed enough to invited Michael to be on Overhaulin. Now I am not sure, but I bet not many personal invites from Chip fly around. Chip thought Michael’s car was “VERY COOL” in his words, and he looked it over, under, in and out asking Michael many questions, almost “quizzing” him to verify he did indeed build the car. It was after his inspection the invite came.
“I have to ask you something, you want to be on Overhaulin?”
Oh man, did I do good or what! I almost died! So I am proud as hell and not afraid to tell everyone. To have taught this kid what he knows and him to be recognized by The Man himself…………Those of you that have children are sure to understand.
We do not have any dates yet for the show, but it sounds like it will be one of the first new shows as overhaulin is being re released. That is all the information I can give about the show, but it is coming back.
