I have to confess I like the catalog. I ran several shops back in the day before Gore invented the internet, and the catalog was the bible. If you knew the catalog you knew the answer for the customer.
Online is nice, but I always find something else in the catalog that I can't live without, or I didn't think I needed.
One of my favorite catalogs in the day used to have tech tips scattered throught the pages.
Advertising is a tough call. If you place adds for something I'm not interested in, I'll never pay attention. If you're active in the community I'm more likely to buy from you. If the adds peak my interest and I call I hope someone on the other end is friendly and helpful (a little salesmenship too).
If you are always telling me about the price I feel like its one of those adds that arrives in my mail box every week. I have a trash can and a shredder next to the front door for all that.
