The important difference is that the BB bell will fit a larger flywheel, which is needed for it to fit over the LSx flywheel.
I'd guess one can go without the 12 o'clock fastening position (
). If you do, you'll only have 4 bolts holding the bell to the block. It will probably be OK, but I'm not gonna recommend it.
