I guess thhat depends n how fast you can get out of the car and the size of the fire. The 5# worked great for me. I can say I don't think I would want to try to hold my breath for a 10# bottle to go in the drivers compartment. I can check the dimensions of my 5# bottle this week. It is over at my dad's shop. I'm guessing 4-5" in diameter and 14-16" long.
