Cool Datsun Guy

I posted in reply to Tyler's "Attention Lurkers" post and was overwhelmed by the positive response. By demand, here's some pictures of my Datsun 521 project. Not exactly Pro Touring in the customary sense, but inspired by the modernization of old cars that I've seen here.

About me; 35, married with 3, Northern California, my day job is Field Service Manager for a forklift company. My automotive life began in the 80's when I was hired by a gentleman to swap motors in his '65 Galaxies. Then came a '57 Thunderbird resto with the same guy, a '66 mustang, and another '57 T Bird. He taught me to do bodywork and paint, so I painted my '72 Datsun 510. Then came marriage, kids, and life.

For the past 10 years, I've been working on other peoples cars part time to make ends meet, and just recently ave been able to work on something for myself. This pickup is going to be a budget daily driver with a modern EFI Nissan 4 cylinder, OD 5 speed, AC, and upgraded brakes.

I do all my own work, everything except internal machining. In the pictures, see the shackles? I made those from bushing/sleeves and 1/4 mild steel.

Thanks for the reception, Lateral-G Community!
