It is the diameter of the tire that determinnes that part of fitment, a 14" rim with a 26" diameter tire is the same size as a 18" wheel with a 26" tire, the later just has a lower profile, less sidewall. And of coarse you can only go so wide no matter what diameter rims you use.
18" actually fit / work very nice.

Thanks Frank, available tire size and recommended wheel widths confuse matters worse for the backspace challenged (me!). It wasn't until I saw the BRE snowflakes that I even considered any aftermarket wheel for my other ride, my 80 TA...
