Question Flush Mount Electric Antenna

Hey guys,

I'm getting down to the last of my sheetmetal work and one of the things on my list of "Things to do" is to install a flush mount electric antenna mounted to the right rear quarter panel. A fairly long time ago, I had a neighbor who had a 68 Camaro and the guy who painted it installed an antenna from a Corvette. The antenna was completely flush when the antenna was retracted. Very trick. He told me that the guy used some kind of impact tool to pull a pocket into the sheetmetal and then he just ground the antenna ball flush with the top of the quarter panel. Once it was painted, the antenna virtually disappeared when retracted. Is anyone familiar with this process or have any other tricks to do the same? Because I want it mounted in the trunk I need it to be weather proof. Any help is appreciated.
