With 12:1 comrpession and that 276 / 284 cam in that little 355, it probably turns 7600 to 8000 RPMS! And lots of RPMs can make lots of power! And it very well could make that peak power way up there if the heads are really worked, even though those heads have some small valves.

The problem is it is only a good drag motor or circle track motor. You could kick its ass on the street with a stock LS1 because that thing will be a stone to 5000 RPMs and the only way to launch it will be a 5500 RPM converter or side steping the clutch at 6 grand, which will lead to tire smoke.

I built plenty of these peak power motors back in the day, no much fun on the street at all. But you may not want to make any bets against the horsepower peak.
