Yeah more than a few have gone that route to get the modern/flush mount look. We have done it on some other cars, semi gloss rustoelum holds pretty well, needs touch up sometimes, etc...

However we put away the spray can when got our eastwood powder coat gun a few years back. At home powder coat job on our 70 ford pickup trim has held up for 5 years so far no problem.
