You could use epoxy, stay about a quarter inch away from your spot welds with the epoxy, you can brush it on if you want to where the metal will be sandwiched together. On my web site I did a test with weld thru-primer and epoxy to see how far a mig weld would burn it back.

Also on my site under floor pans I have some pictures where I show how far I stayed back for the plug welds that hold the floor pan to the floor supports.
