I have a '69 with the Global West control arms. I had the same problem. The lower control arms have a little button welded on for a steering stop. Most people have the standard steering arms on the spindle so you don't get the travel you would with the short steering arms. I just ground the button down 3/16". I need to grind more though. Don't worry, it's safe and you don't have to worry about your alignment from doing it either.
