Scott, There are many different options. The traditinal recessed will give the ceiling a cleaner look and now there are flouresent recessed lights and even LED. Other factors to take into consideration are how the walls and floor are finished. Drywalled and painted walls? Floor bare concrete or painted? If you can tell me the size area and how the walls/ceiling are finished i can give you some options for lighting. I can also tell you how many fixtures are needed to achieve the desired brightness as well as placement of the fixtures for even illumination.
