city_ofthe_south: What I do is basically what you said... I draw a rough shape of what I want and in the next move I draw it more accurately. It's just my way to do it, I don't know if it's faster...
What you see in the corners is simple: First I draw, for example, a 90º corner with a single anchor point. Then I add two anchor points in each side of it. The 1st anchor point is then deleted which will give you a rounded corner that you can open or close with the anchor points you've added. The right clicks you see it's me adding the anchor points to the Path. It gives you more control in some forms, like for example the headlights/taillights that you see in the movie.
