Each sprocket is welded to one of the tubes. One sprocket to the 3" tube and one to the 2 1/2" tube. When the 2 1/2" tubes spins inside the 3" tube, the sprocket on the 2 1/2" tube also spins, but the one on the 3" tube does not. I then drilled 8 holes in the sprocket welded to the 2 1/2" tube. These holes are for different locations that the car can be set at. There are nuts welded in place behind all the holes on this sprocket. The holes in the sprocket that's welded to the 3" piece are to put the bolts through, into the nuts welded on the other sprocket to secure it in place.

That was the long answer..the short answer...no they are not welded together and yes they are to secure the car in place at the angle I want it.

Hopefully this made sense. I'm hoping to start undercoating the car next week and have it off the rotisserie a couple weeks after. Once that is done, I'll take some more pics of the set up.
