Ouch, he made one of the biggest mistakes you can make... if they can see it before they're even in the house, they can come back when prepared rather than finding it during the burglary and being caught unprepared!

And 500# is very light for a true TL rated burglar resistant safe unless it was small, like 2' x 2' x 2' or so.
