I just had a Craigslist scammer try and buy some parts I had on there....

It started with a very broken english email asking for my mailing address so he could send me a check for my item.....I had about 20 items listed...first red flag.... I emailed back my work address just to see where it would go.. he emailed back again in broken english that he wanted to buy my item and was sending me a check for it.... next big flag....which item and we never discused price.... I emailed back to take a frickin leap and dont contact me again..... 2 weeks later I get a check in the mail for $2000 with the BS story to deposit the check and then send "the shipping company" the difference and they would arrange to pick up my item...... yeah right.... I wasnt born yesterday.... I shredded the letter and the check..... another email a week later wondering about the status of the transaction.....again I replied to f-off..... a got another email this week, same thing "I'm sorry to find out you havent deposited the check, please I want to buy the item",,,blah blah blah.....

I was half tempted to just open a separate bank account....deposit the check and then just wait to see how long it would take to bounce....figured it wasnt worth the effort to have the fun....

Anyway...back on subject.... I've had good success with both. Craiglist for easy local sales and ebay for a much larger market....
