Is the column or the adapter to run a quick release a special part or something produced? is it a fine spline on the quick release hub or course so the wheel feels sloppy when not driving?

Jake,

The column is an Ididit GM replacement column with an adapter for a MOMO wheel. The FIA approved quick disconnect bolts in place of the wheel and essentially sandwiches between the column and wheel (it is available for other patterns IIRC). It doesn't use fine splines, instead it used larger pins that are machined essentially in two planes. Three pins parallel the plane of the column shaft and keep the wheel from rotating while the two disconnectable pins are perpandicular to the column.

So far I have not been able to feel any difference from a 'hard mounted' wheel so I am satisified at this point.
