I can't even remember how many times I've seen and heard of this happening. I have had several cars dropped-off at the shop that were along these lines. I had one customer buy a car that was advertised by the seller as "Ready to paint". After I removed all of the Duraglass, rivets, and seam sealer, his "ready to paint" car needed a new firewall, full floor, rocker work, A-pillar repair, roof repair, quarter repair, etc, etc. His car was so bad that unibody sections were not even attached anymore. Todd is absolutely right. If you can't look at it yourself, pay someone you trust to do so. It will save you tons of time and $$$ in the end.
I wish you the best and hope this ends positively for you.
