I've been meaning to contribute some work to the contests Ben and the others have been putting a lot of effort into. I finally had some time to work on something I've been wanting to do for years. These Monza Spyders were pretty cool from the factory considering the times, but with a little nudge....alright, a dropkick...they can be a real animal. (pun intended) They have a bit of racing heritage already so it's not like I'm going from granny-wagon to world-beater.
Anyway, this potent little arachnid comes tightly packed with a beefier frame and roll cage, major suspension/brake upgrades and aggressive stance and some custom 17's I whipped up (Yes they have 8 spokes to match the 8 legs). Rear is mini-tubbed to swallow some wide rubber. I was considering a turbo-6 but, I can't resist....LS motor with a turbo.(2 if they fit!) On this one I'll go with a Auto-trans and paddle shifter. Interior is adapted from a Cobalt SS Supercharged with the Recaro seat option.
As for wrapping this package, I added some fender flares, made a ramair hood, and massaged the busy looking front fascia to allow for 68 Camaro bumpers and a 2nd gen style chin spoiler. Like the 76 IMSA race cars, I decided to shield those headlight buckets. Behind them are a composite light assembly with halo headlights and integrated blinkers. I thought it gave the car a Mad Max look. The rear fascia would be reworked to include a center exhaust and small air diffusers. Taillights would be smoked with LED brake lights. I wish I had time to do that rendering.
So.......before....

After....
