I saw it over on PT, looks like a nice place to start. Over there you mentioned that you wanted to get it driving before the weekend. Before you take it out, make sure you go through a few things to ensure that the car is safe to be driven.
Check all of the suspension and steering joints for excessive play. A good shop manual will explain how to check them.
Look at all of the brake and fuel lines. Light rust is OK, heavy rust means you need to replace them before you go for a drive. Check the rubber lines as well. Cracking or peeling flex lines should be replaced. On the flexible brake lines, bend them near the fittings to see if they crack up. Nothing much worse than slamming the brakes and blowing out a flex line!
I love the 2nd Gen Trans Am. I drove a '79 for a while, a 403/auto car. One day I would like to build another, but totally custom.
Again, looks like a nice place to start, and with the judicious use of your local salvage yard you should be able to make a very nice car out of it for not a lot of money.
