It looks like you weren't alone with the delays. One of the news sites just reported today that June was the worst month ever for travel delays. My family came out to visit me in early June and they experienced a 1.5 hour mechanical delay on the way out here and a 1.25 hour delay(kid puked all over a seat and the airlines had to replace it and clean up) on the way back. Fortunately, both delays were after they boarded their connecting flight. If it had been on the first flight, they would've missed their 2nd flight and that right there is a "sh!t creek" scenario. Missing your connecting flight nowadays can be a real pain in the ass due to completely full flights and the airlines policies for (not) finding you a hotel room. The airline industry hasn't been much fun for employees or travelers the past few years. It sucks for everyone.

Glad to hear you eventually got home safely. In the grand scheme of things, that's all that really matters.
