The filming definitely takes place over 7-8 days on al but a few of them but the cars are kept after they reveal it to safety check them and go over everything with a fine-tooth comb which is why the mark almost never drives the car at the end of the episode.

I've seen a bunch of them in person and the quality is up there and curb appeal is always over the top but just like our cars, depends a lot on what you had to start with, i.e. rust buckets that take an extra day or two to hang panels on. Rushing the bodywork may create issues down the road and best case scenario require another cut and rub a few months down the road when things shrink.

I've seen a lot of them go up for sale at Barrett-Jackson, Hot Rod Hotline, EBay, etc for various reasons ranging from "where the hell am I supposed to park this thing and not have a panic attack every time I hear a car alarm?" to "I wonder if I can capitalize on this car's new found fame?" Don't know what they sold for but it depends on a bunch of things like selling an oddball like the van or the Tahoe in the depth of the recession or selling a 1st gen Camaro 4 years ago.

Of course they're responsible for the taxes! Do you think the IRS is going to let that slide?

Do some Google searches and to the magazine guys reading, round some of them up for feature articles! 90% of them are in So-Cal!
